Spooneye! The Card Game
There are never any spaces between masts. If a mast being raised or captured results in an empty space in between other masts, those masts immediately move together so as to eliminate the space:

There's no way to ever play a card in an empty space; all new masts are started on either the left or the right of the masts already on the table.


The position of masts or whether they have spaces between them has absolutely no gameplay effect in the Basic Game. Make sure to follow this rule, though, as it will have a significant role in The Standard Game.
